l Competent Person: A competent person must be designated to oversee all aspects of suspended platform safety, including inspection, setup, operation, and maintenance.  

l Fall Protection: Workers on suspended platforms must be protected from falls by personal fall arrest systems (PFAS) or guardrail systems.  

l Load Capacity: The platform must be able to support its own weight plus four times the maximum intended load, including workers, tools, and materials.

l Inspections: The platform and all its components must be inspected before each use and after any incident that could affect its integrity.  

l Training: Workers must receive thorough training on the safe use of suspended platforms, including hazard recognition, fall protection, and emergency procedures.  

Specific Requirements:

l Ropes and Cables: Ropes and cables must be inspected regularly for damage and replaced as needed. They must be secured to a structurally sound anchor point.  

l Suspension System: The suspension system, including outrigger beams, tiebacks, and counterweights, must be properly designed and installed to ensure stability.

l Platform Construction: The platform must be constructed of sturdy materials and have guardrails, toe boards, and mid-rails to prevent falls and falling objects.  

l Electrical Safety: Electrical cords and equipment must be properly insulated and grounded to prevent shocks.

l Weather Conditions: Work on suspended platforms should be suspended during high winds, storms, or other hazardous weather conditions.
